Bodysattva Staff

Shana Berger, D.C. - Director and founder of the Bodysattva Healing Arts Center and Studio, Dr.  Berger holds her Doctorate in Chiropractic, from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (now Southern California University of Health Sciences) and has been in practice in the Conejo Valley since 1993.  She uses a variety of Chiropractic techniques including Sacro-Occipital Technique, Diversified, Cox and cranial work and draws from over 20 years of manual therapy and massage experience.  To Dr. Berger, being a holistic practitioner means treating the whole person and finding the appropriate treatment to produce the most desired result for the patient.  She feels it is important to get to know her patients and learn about their lives to decipher the best course of action to take in order to achieve mutually set goals.  Many of her clients are new to Chiropractic or are unsure about returning to a Chiropractor.  Her gentle style, patience and compassionate care result in a positive experience.  Catering to cowards or neophytes becomes very rewarding because Chiropractic can be so magical, producing some level of relief in just one session.

Certification as a Master Somatic Coach by the Strozzi Institute in Petaluma, California, allows Dr. Berger a unique perspective, powerful listening and observation and the bridging of bodywork with somatic reconditioning by using breath, touch, movement and attention guiding her clients toward new ways of responding to life’s pressures and opportunities.

Dr. Berger’s interest and experience in healthcare dates back over twenty years.  Since then she has been passionate about creating a healthcare environment that offers a diverse approach to treatment that benefits both client and staff.  This passion has shaped the evolution of a small multidisciplinary/complementary office to a diverse multi-model healthcare center. “Our goal is to be a great resource in the community, to generate a place where people can come and relax, heal, rejuvenate and connect with themselves in a non-stressful, noncompetitive environment for the sake of producing a more meaningful and fulfilling life.”

Dr. Berger is an avid yoga student, backpacker/hiker, road and mountain biker, admirer of nature down to its miniscule perfect flowers, adventurer, occasional rock climber, scuba diver, back country skier and closeted artist. (Back to Top)

Heather Greiner, D.Hom - Heather Greiner was introduced to homeopathy over 10 years ago when chronic illnesses and symptoms were misdiagnosed by leading medical practitioners. Her love of homeopathy was born based on the successes of her treatment and the cure from all illnesses.

Heather is a California native where the lifestyle of health and open mindedness about alternative holistic approaches to healing the human body is widely accepted.

Her practice is based on the belief in the body’s inherent ability to cure itself. From time to time the body requires a slight boost to the vital force, which is known in Chinese medicine as qi, the energy that animates us.  A well chosen homeopathic remedy provides an extra lift to the body's vital force stimulating the ability to cure itself of ailments.

As a mother, Heather understands the importance which homeopathy brings to her practice which is evident with each of her clients.  Her ability to understand, nurture, and heal provide a great source of comfort regardless of age or ailments. It isn't just about the ailment or illness it is a complete understanding of each unique individual’s personality, habits and lifestyle which enable Heather to treat with compassion and commitment. She works with each patient to help them reach their health goals.

The individual treatment of homeopathy is what attracted Heather to the study of alternative treatments. As a child she experienced the rigors of being treated by many physicians in an attempt to treat her illnesses. It was a Homeopath who finally put her on the path to cure.

Heather received her diploma from the Los Angeles School of Homeopathy in California . She did her clinical internship at the DISCH clinic in Phoenix , Arizona . She has her bachelor's degree in English from the University of California , Santa Barbara . She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and trained in Marina Del Rey, California with Brandon Raynor of the Brandon Raynor School of Natural Therapies based in Australia .

She is an active member of the North American Society of Homeopaths and the International Natural Therapies Association and La Leche League International.

We urge you to learn more about homeopathy. If you would like to schedule an appointment  with Heather give us a call and we will be happy to do so. (Back to Top)

Diana Prevatte, L.M.T - Trained in swedish, trigger point therapy, acupressure, myofascial release technique, deep tissue, pregnancy massage, lymphatic clearing, cranio-sacral therapy and energy balancing.

My strength is working with people suffering from trauma. Whether it is physical pain from injuries and chronic conditions, or emotional trauma from grief and stress that so often manifest themselves in the physical body.

Through my years of experience, I have developed techniques for a softer, less invasive and very effective deep tissue therapy. I use gentle passive stretches with soothing strokes to aid my patients in their healing. I combine this with respect, communication, and an open heart with warm, nurturing hands enhanced with hand-blended essential oils.

Each patient has my complete concentration and focus to work with their individual and unique pathway to health and well being. I am well accustomed to pre and post surgeries, knee and hip replacements, back and spine disorders and accident survivors as well as people coping with conditions from fibromyalgia to M.S. I am also very aware of the trust that must be established between my touch and the emotional scars from patients overcoming abuse.

I have been doing this work since 1991 and have been with Dr. Shana Berger since 1993. She founded Bodysattva to offer more diverse therapy so patients can achieve a better chance for long-term recovery and health. Working with her this long has given me an understanding of her practice and her commitment to the patient’s health. I work hard to honor her practice and mine with communication, study, feedback and compassion to help our patients become well so they can return to their lives better than before. (Back to Top)

Karen Hormell, C.P.I - Karen Hormell has worked in and been involved with health and fitness for most of her life, starting at the age of 10 when she discovered dance. Ever since, dance and movement have been part of who she is. Before she was introduced to Pilates, she fulfilled her love for movement by teaching ballet, jazz to children, pre and post-partum  aerobics and traditional aerobics.

Karen was introduced to Pilates and knew instantly this is something she wanted to share with others. Karen spent several years working as a Pilates instructor under the direction of several thriving chiropractic and physical therapy practices.  Karen also instructed at Amgen where she taught mat, group, and private classes for 5 years.

In 2010 Karen underwent two emergency back surgeries that would change the course of her instruction forever. The surgeries came with many complications and challenges, some of which she is still dealing with today. After many weeks of Physical Therapy with four different practitioners she was released to fend for herself. Thankfully Karen had the knowledge and determination through her past Pilates training to continue her long road to recovery.

During this time she decided to dedicate her time to the care of others in similar situations to regain better strength and mobility. She also wanted to help those with inflammatory conditions by showing them a safe effective modality with which to move their bodies. Rekindling her relationship with Shana at Bobysattva was the perfect place to make this vision a reality.

Karen's desire is to get you "moving" forward with safe, patient and compassionate help to regain a better sense of self. (Back to Top)
